I wrestle every day with choosing when to speak (and not speak) in meetings. It's a fine balance...sometimes I have to force myself to speak up, and other times I struggle to keep my thoughts to myself.This HBR article is an excellent, quick read that's packed with great reminders and advice. I love that it addresses how we can add value to a situation by both speaking and choosing not to speak.Keep in mind that sometimes (especially in a virtual environment) taking a moment at the beginning of a meeting to crack a joke or share something personal can add value, because it helps to build relationships or may provide a much-needed emotional release.How do you decide when you'll speak up in a meeting at work?

Some great advice here on both sides of the fence. Knowing when to speak up in a meeting vs. holding back or shifting your comments to a smaller group is an absolute art form.
