Why am I qualified? I'm not. I can't be a serious pit sweat as I have a girlfriend, which means no matter how much I play, ill never be good. But, I have over 800 Hours, which must count for something right?

But seriously, the pit is great. What I find the best is the community, and I've found some genuinely great friends through pit. It was 100% worth the time I've put into it as playing pit are some of my favourite memories.

Anyway... with further ado:

Crql's Guide to the Hypixel Pit!​

So, the Pit is a strange gamemode, and is hard to grasp. To help with this I shall create a lot of spoilers at the end that can be read afterward to help, or to further explain. I am also in the process of creating a modern pit tutorial video to help.​

Starting In the Pit:​

When you first start in the pit, everything will seem almost foreign. The Pit is Hypixel's take on Kitpvp, but is unlike any PVP gamemode you've played before. Here, Golden Sword, Enchanted Bows and Leather Pants are king, being called "Mystic Items" these are incredibly powerful weapons that will help with a streak and will be covered later... For now, we should look at the layout of the pit. Obviously, you have the pit, a large gaping hole in spawn, and is, well, the Pit. This is commonly referred to as "Mid" . You start off in Spawn, a safe area for setting up to drop down, and for trading. You also have 4 themed sections, taking up a quarter of the map each. Starting off at level 1, you are the weakest of the weak. The only thing you can and should do at the moment is jump down the pit and try and get a couple of free kills. I would advise doing this until you can afford golden heads as then you have a few more options. Golden heads can be purchased from the "Perks and Upgrades" Villager, who will be your best friend at this stage in the game.​

Levels 1-70:
I could break this down into seperate sections such as 1-10,11-20 ect, but the leveling system pit is weird. Level 1-70 is really only 20% of your prestige and therefore can be included in the same section. After you have got golden heads, you should be about level 20. If you're higher or lower, this is okay. Something important at this point is to talk about the different Villagers at spawn. We have the Perks and Upgrades villager who we've talked about. Next to him is the shop villager, where you can buy a plethora of items. Most if not all of these are lost on death so be careful how you spend your gold. There is also the "Quests" Villager, who will be important at this stage in the game. You should enable the 3 quests that he has on offer. 2 are Daily and 1 is Weekly. The two dailies reward 1000 gold and the weekly rewards a massive 10k gold. You should start these asap and have them going in the background as it gives a nice boost to the gold department. At the moment, the only other important feature of the spawn is the enderchest where items can be saved. Use this to try and save any diamond armor that could be dropped in spawn.

Once you've started the quests, you've got a few options... The recommended option would to be to just keep jumping down mid and try and get a couple of kills. This can be a good way to start to build gold. The Ill-advised choice would to try and go to the outskirts and go on a longer streak, as you would get less rewards doing it this way. Depending on your skill, this can go either way. If you're a pvp god incarnate, it could work out well, if not, don't even bother. Theres a few options for the next perk to get, but I would advise either Strength Chaining or Safety First. Strength Chaining can greatly increase your damage, but requires kills, which is why Safety first, which gives a chain helmet may be preferred. I personally, would go for Safety First, but it truly is a coinflip. Alternatively, if you've been doing well outside of mid, it could be an idea to buy the perk "Lucky Diamond" to get a chance to get diamond armor. This is a good way to try and attempt a longer streak, but will more than likely end in your death.

Something else that should be briefly discussed is Major and Minor Events. These will be linked in greater detail below but for now: Major events are server-wide events that give you the ability to earn lots of XP and gold by playing a fun minigame. Minor events are short events that range from 2x Rewards to Whacky Cake eating contest and will also be explained more below.

Level 70-100

These levels will almost solely be focused on unlocking 2 things, Streaker, and AAA-Rated Steaks. Streaker, triples the bonus XP you get for going on a long streak, and AAA-Rated Steaks/Feast is a Killstreak that you will really want at this point, as it gives a consumable item that greatly increases your damage. However, these two upgrades are costly and should only be purchased at this stage, once you have unlocked all of the perk slots. The best way to get gold right now would be to do your contracts from the Quests NPC. Contracts are small challenges from the Quests NPC that reward Gold, and other items later in the game. Once the gold required to buy Streaker and Feast have been reached, you can now finally purchase diamond armor from the NPC and try and go on a longer streak. You should aim for a 50 Killstreak as this will activate a special killstreak (A megastreak) Called Overdrive. Overdrive gives you 2x XP and 75% more gold, and also rewards 4000 XP on death. In Exchange for this, you have the lifespan of the average hamster and will die faster than my grandfather.

[GUIDE] Pit Maps and Rotation

This is really the final trial of the the first round of the Hypixel pit; the trek from level 100 to 120. This can be completed really easily if you're good a pvp, but can be done regardless. By now you should be using Golden Heads, Safety First and Streaker, and should be attempting 50 Killstreaks to get that sweet 4000 XP. When you streak, watch out for other diamond players as they may see your 1000g bounty and think "Look, its a walking gold coin!" Really at this point in the game its just a rush for level 120, so you can...

Prestige!!!

This is really what the pit is about, prestiging. With prestiging, you can start earning a Currency called renown that can make you a god if used wisely. Before you prestige however, you should buy some special items called "Chunks of Vile" "

Philosophers Cactus" and "Fresh Pants". These are special items worth 5 000, 17 000 and 15 000, gold respectively. Fresh Sword, Bows and Pants, are Mystic items, and are gold sword, bows and Leather Pants. It is important to spend all of your gold before you prestige, as it is all reset upon prestiging.

Once you're ready, click the button and prestige! You'll have reset back down to level 0, but you will have gained 10 Renown. I will link a renown guide below, but right now you should buy Tenacity.

Final Words:

Really, the first few prestiges are carbon copies of themselves, but find people to play with and you should have fun. I would advise joining a pit guild, in particular, The Greatest Nons, Run by @Jokemaster3000 as it is largely based for newer players. Playing pit is great and can be a fun gamemode, but just watch out for Scammers and the more toxic players in the community.

Mysticism Guide:

There are 3 Types of Mystic Items, Swords, Bows and Pants.

Swords are good for mutilating literally anyone in your lobby. They can range from paying gold to do more damage, to smiting your opponents with Perun's Lightning.
Pants are Primarily Defensive and Can greatly increase your surviveability and also your damage
Bows are great for mobility, and sniping a couple kills.
Mystics are mostly Obtained through the Renown Upgrade Mysticism, excluding a few. (Dark, Sewer, Rage and Aqua Pants). Mystics can be enchanted at the Mystic well. Mysticism 4 is required to Upgrade bows and swords to tier 3, and Mysticism 9 is required to upgrade pants at all. A list of enchants can be found in the pit wiki.

The 3 other types of mystics are Darks, Aquas, Sewers and Rage Pants. Dark Pants are a counter to regular mystics, but decrease your defence heavily. Aquas are used for fishing. Sewers are only obtained on the Kings map and can get the OP enchant hidden jewel. Rage Pants also counter regular mystics, but are insanely overpowered.

I would advise only looking into Mysticism Past prestige 5.
